Total Distance of this section as described is approximately 13-1/2 miles with about 2-3 hours of actual riding time. Allow about 4 hours for the complete ride. The trail description for this section is for a south to north ride.

To get to the start point - From Medora, drive 1 mile west to I-94, then on I-94 another mile west to the West River Road exit. From this exit, drive north and west approximately 9-1/2 miles on 730A until you arrive at the intersection with road 726. Turn right on road 726 and travel northeast approximately 7 miles to the intersection with road 729. Continue west on 726 about 1 mile to the Maah-Daah-Hey trail crossing.

Section 3
Start the ride with a steep, switchbacked, single track climb north on section 3. This climb will be extremely muddy if it has recently rained. Once on top, the singletrack is fast and excellent, and leads northwest along the edge of a plateau. The scenery is unmatched. Watch for the large petrified stumps near the beginning of section 34.

Section 34
The excellent singletrack and scenery continue through this short piece of state-owned land.

Section 33
Enjoy the fine rolling singletrack ride to the scoria road, and beyond into a valley. A self-closing gate leads to section 28.

Section 28
Continue following the trail up the drainage to the self-closing gate at section 27.

Section 27
Drop down to the creek crossing, and into section 22.

Section 22
Climb the moderately steep singletrack trail north, then turn west onto a plateau. Enjoy the view of the big valley to the south and west. The trail leads to a self-closing gate at the beginning of section 21.

Sections 21 and 16
Enjoy the grassy downhill to Crooked Creek . Cross the creek, and begin the gentle grassy climb through the state-owned section 16 to the self-closing gate at the beginning of section 17.

Section 17
Enjoy the gentle downhill to the scoria road. Cross the road, and follow the markers along the imaginary cactus trail north.

Section 8
Continue north along the cactus trail gently downhill into the drainage. Cross the small creek, and pass the oil well on the hill to the east. Enjoy the fantastic flat singletrack as the trail turns west to section 7.

Section 7
Cross Roosevelt Creek, and begin the climb to the northeast.

Section 6
Continue the moderate climb to the top of a grassy hill. Enjoy the fine view before launching into the excellent fast singletrack descent to section 31.

Section 31
Cross the small creek, and make the short, easy climb to road 722.

To get to Medora - Drive east on road 722 about 2-1/2 miles to road 725. Turn south on 725 and travel approximately 7 miles to road 729. Turn east on 729 and travel about 4-1/2 miles to road 726. Turn right on 726 and travel about 7 miles to road 730A. Turn east on 730A and drive about 9-1/2 miles to the I-94 West River Road Exit. Get on the interstate, and drive 1 mile east to the Medora exit.
